The book presents a biography of Marco Antonio Barbaro (1518-1595), one of the great diplomats of Venice and of Renaissance. He negotiated the peace with Turks after the naval battle of Lepanto, represented the Republic of Venice at the French court, and was the Republic’s envoy to the Pope Sixtus V. He was also instrumental in three reforms at the University of Padua.
