The author: This work was written in two stages: one during the period of 1945-46, when the events were still fresh in my memory, and the other during the period of 1960-61, when I had the opportunity to rewrite and to complete the work by using my notes.
Throughout I have mentioned the names of the Russians who contributed to the success of the development of the Movement of the Grand Duke. Their selflessness, their sacrificial work and their devotion to the monarchy make them worthy of having their names recorded for history.
