Globus Books is excited to invite you to the launch of "A Story of Us: A New Look at Evolution" (Oxford University Press (March 1, 2021)).
People have long told stories about their ancestors and their origins. These stories are passed down the generations and help people to define who they are. But modern people are taught that the
stories they believe must be “true” and based on evidence. The problem is that the modern origins story – the story of human evolution is based on science that is incomprehensible to most people.
That’s why Lesley Newson and Peter Richerson have written “A Story of Us.” They argue that it’s vital for the public to be introduced to a new story of human evolution because the public discussion of human evolution is still dominated by old ideas that are inconsistent with the latest evidence and are giving us a distorted idea of what humans are like. The book includes narratives that show what life may have been like for our ancestors at different times during the last seven million years – sort of science fiction stories about the past.
This event is in English and will be held on Zoom on April 26, 2021, at 1 pm PST (SF), 4 pm EST (NY).
There will be a limited number of seats; please contact Globus Books via FB messenger to register.
