The direction of the highway leading to Pereslavl-Zalessky is almost fully identical to the ancient trade route. The most attractive section of this road-all of which is remarkably picturesque - lies between Zagorsk and Pereslavl-Zalessky: here it runs through rolling country, climbing hilltops and plunging down again and again.
The dense woods that line the road sides, are occasionally interspersed with stretches of fields.
One can see Pereslavl from afar... The scenic environs of the town and its ancient monuments have always attracted men of art. The painter Konstantin Korovin and the singer Fiodor Chaliapin lived in these parts; the woods and lakes of Peres-lavl were poetically described by the writer M. Prishvin; the artist D. Kardovsky lived and worked in the town for a long time (his house is now a base for members of the Artists' Union). The ancient monuments of Pereslavl retain their appeal for lovers of our art and history in our own day.
