The edition represents the first literal translation of Eugene Onegin by Vladimir Nabokov, based on the 1837 edition, the last edition published during Pushkin's lifetime. Volume 4 includes an index and a reduced facsimile reproduction of the 1837 edition. In his commentary, Nabokov provides translations of deleted or altered lines, variant passages from Pushkin's notebooks, fragments from an unfinished continuation titled Onegin's Journey, and the unpublished "Chapter Ten."
