The filming of the project "A Day in the Life of the Soviet Union" took place on May 15, 1987, after three years of negotiations with representatives of the Soviet state. The partner from the Soviet side was the Novosti Press Agency. The team was 50 x 50: fifty Soviet correspondents and fifty Western ones. In addition, another 50 Soviet journalists were involved as accompanying ones. Western correspondents received unprecedented freedom of filming in the USSR at that time. That day, a colossal amount of work was done, more than 127,000 frames were shot.

Съемка проекта «A Day in the Life of the Soviet Union» прошла 15 мая 1987 года, после трех лет переговоров с представителями Советского государства. Партнером с советской стороны выступало Агентство Печати «Новости» Работали 50 х 50: пятьдесят советских корреспондентов и пятьдесят западных. Кроме этого, в качестве сопровождающих было задействовано еще 50 советских журналистов. Западные корреспонденты получили беспрецедентную на тот момент свободу съемок в СССР. В тот день была проделана колоссальная работа, отснято более 127 000 кадров.
